Since 2004, we have been working on the inclusion of men and women with disabilities. Our projects aim to improve accessibility of all areas of life – from education to the labour market – to enable persons with disabilities to live independent, safe and healthy lives. We try to work as inclusively as possible and do our research together with people with disabilities.
41 percent of all persons with learning disabilities living in specialized housing facilities are older than 50 years of age – and the number is growing. The needs of these "invisible older people" are not considered in a systematic and structural manner.
The major focus of this study was to find out about violence against persons with disabilities systematically and to identify risk/protection factors and prevention/support measures. Persons with disabilities living or working in institutions were asked to contribute their experiences (personally or written). In addition, representatives of these institutions and experts were interviewed and good-practice-analysis were carried out. This study is available in German only.
