Objectives
Within the framework of the 2024 funding call "Healthy on the Move – Active Mobility & Healthy Streets“ (Healthy Austria Fund), the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland GmbH is implementing the project "Gehgemeinde in Bewegung – aktiv mobil für eine nachhaltige Zukunft" (Community in Motion – Active Mobility for a Sustainable Future). The project aims to promote active mobility and the health and quality of life of citizens in Bernstein and Pinkafeld – two municipalities in the region. In doing so, the project also makes a valuable contribution to climate protection.
The project is divided into six phases and will be implemented from May 2025 to October 2027. At the start of the project, the project team will develop an evidence-based implementation concept for promoting active mobility at the municipal level and conduct a status check in each municipality. In the subsequent phases, various incentive and awareness-raising measures for active mobility, the training of students as "climate ambassadors", and measures for raising awareness and building the skills of stakeholders in the municipalities will be implemented.
Implementation
The external evaluation is implemented as a structural, process, and outcome evaluation:
The process evaluation analyzes how the project was implemented. It examines the execution, project progress, and lessons learned – including factors that facilitated and hindered project implementation and potential for improvement.
As part of the structural evaluation, the evaluation team assists in assessing the initial situation and needs regarding active mobility in the participating municipalities. The results provide a valuable basis for action planning. The outcome evaluation examines the actual effects and impacts of selected project activities.
